Khao Phing Kan took its nickname from The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974, and the leaning limestone stack offshore — Ko Tapu — is the shot. You can no longer land on the small beach beside the rock, so the view is from the main island or from the water. The rest of Phang Nga Bay is the better half of the day: sea caves, hongs you paddle into at low tide, and karsts standing straight out of flat green water.
