It was originally meant to house a spa, but has long been a concert venue. Vienna loves its composers and musicians.The grounds are expansive and perfectly manicured. Inside, it’s similarly refined and impressive and you’ll make your way to the concert hall on the upper floor. Lanner Hall.Step in and admire the intricate stonework of the ceiling and the impressive crystals of the chandelier. Make your way to your seat and feel the plush carpet underfoot. Sit down and take a moment to appreciate that Johann Strauss himself used to conduct in this very chamber. It was where he made his name.You’re in the epitome of 19th century elegance.You’ll have about 45 minutes to settle in. Depending on which ticket you purchased, dinner and drinks might already have been arranged. But if not, will provide you with the finest fare.And then the orchestra arrives. The Salonorchester Alt Wien, masters of salon music. Instead of a conductor they have a first violinist who leads them, and the ensemble is completed by two opera vocalists. For almost two hours they’ll enrapture you with the spirited waltzes, arias and polkas of Strauss and Mozart. Some will sound familiar, all will sound superb.
