Description

This speedboat tour from Phuket combines sea canoeing in Phang Nga Bay with a chance to see bioluminescent plankton. After leaving the pier, you canoe at Panak Island and then Hong Island, getting close to the rock formations, caves and hidden lagoons.
Next is Koh Tapu, known as James Bond Island, where the villain of The Man with the Golden Gun had his lair. You watch the sunset and have a Thai-style dinner at a local restaurant.
After sunset is the best time to see the bioluminescence, as the water is usually calmer and the glow is easier to see. The plankton give off a blue-green light when the water is disturbed, caused by a chemical reaction inside them.
Please note: how visible the plankton are depends on water conditions, weather and other factors outside anyone's control, so what you see may not look exactly like the photos.
